Childcare Voucher Scheme

The Childcare Voucher Scheme allows an employee to exchange part of their salary for childcare vouchers. The vouchers are themselves exempt from both employee and employer NI contributions and can therefore reduce the cost of childcare for employees by up to 10% while at the same time saving the employer, Humberside Police, money too.

Who Provides the Vouchers

There are a number of providers of Childcare Vouchers, but Humberside Police have chosen Leapfrog Day Nurseries Limited as our provider because of the additional benefits Leapfrog Day Nurseries can offer to members of staff who utilise their nurseries. (They have 3 Day Nurseries – Beverley, Brough and York).

Benefits include:-

  • Entitlement to free registration and one months free childcare (on condition that their child is in nursery for at least 3 months);
  • “Emergency childcare” where a Leapfrog Day Nursery may be able to offer a nursery place if an employees existing childcare arrangement breaks down for whatever reason.
  • A 5% sibling discount for parents who have more than one child in the nursery on a regular basis.

Leapfrog also state that they will offer the first months childcare free to anyone who wishes to introduce a child to one of their nurseries using the Leapfrog Childcare Vouchers.
