High Potential Development scheme
If you have the ability to lead, the High Potential Development scheme offers you the opportunity to fast track to some of the most senior positions in the police service. Senior officers in the police service need to be able to lead and manage people. They need to be able to manage budgets, take control of incidents and handle a wide range of complex policing issues.
Successful candidates will have a structured career path to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed in this challenging and rewarding environment. Personal and academic development will go hand in hand with gaining operational experience.
Anyone can apply. Previous successful applicants have come from a wide range of professions including the armed services, education, industry, commerce and the legal sector. In the past we have had successful applications from university graduates from all disciplines but the scheme is also open to non-graduates.
So, what do you need to do to be considered? Simply indicate on your application form that you are interested in the scheme. The next step is to pass the standard selection procedure for regular entry into the police service. Applications will not be considered from individuals until they have qualified for appointment as a regular police officer.
