What elements of the job do you enjoy the most?:
The variety of incidents and people you have to deal with, and the challenge you face in trying to make a difference to people's lives. Oh, and of course the team spirit and sense of humour required to work in a busy, stressful environment.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about applying for a job with the force?
Speak to a serving police officer and get their opinion on how the job really is and, if possible, have a look around to see what happens during a typical day. Be prepared for a very demanding, challenging, but rewarding career if you are successful.
Please give details of any work based project, achievement or challenge that you are particularly proud of.
I was particularly proud to become a Vulnerable Victim Officer, enabling me to deal with children and vulnerable adults who are either victims or witnesses to serious offences. This also led to me working in the Family Protection Unit, where you are highly valued and able to make decisions which hopefully lead to improving the future for children. |
