What elements of the job do you enjoy the most?:
The unknown. Every day is different, so many things happen daily within Personnel, from carrying out routine interviews, to having to find Officers to resource murder enquiries. I enjoy problem solving and I speak to a variety of people internally and externally on a daily basis.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about applying for a job with the force?
Go for it. The people are fun loving and friendly, although there is an extremely serious side to the work. There are a variety of roles to choose from and all are interesting and challenging.
Please give details of any work based project, achievement or challenge that you are particularly proud of.
I carry out a wide range of tasks within my role and am proud of how well I have developed in the position. I believe I have gained people’s trust and confidence and this shows as many Officers and Support Staff will come to me with most problems, knowing I will always try to help.
I am also the division’s liaison Officer for the Cadets and on occasions I have had to challenge their behaviour, as you do with teenagers, but I have had some proud moments watching them grow and mature as they become part of the future for our Police Force. I have seen many develop into confident young Officers. At the end of their 2-year scheme when they collect their award and diploma and go on to join the Probationers, I feel I have achieved something too. (I survived another 6 teenagers!!!!).
